Michael Anastassiades

Michael Anastassiades launched his studio in 1994 in London to explore contemporary notions of culture and aesthetics through a combination of product, furniture and environmental design. Positioned between fine art and design, his work aims to provoke dialogue, participation and interaction. He creates objects that are minimal, utilitarian and almost mundane yet full of a vitality one might not expect. Anastassiades' work is featured in permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

In 2007 Michael Anastassiades set up a company under his own name to produce unlimited editions of his designs. Each product is handmade and stamped with the designers mark, is manufactured in accordance with the purity of his original vision.

Since 2007 Michael Anastassiades has exhibited at Maison & Objet, had a range of lights launch at Moss Gallery, New York and has seen the products sold from la Rinascente in Milan, Matter in New York and Liberty’s in London. Alongside this in collaboration with prestigious interior designers and architects the lights have been used in projects globally most notably in the Grand Hotel Stockholm by Ilse Crawford.

Recently Michael has been working on commissioned design projects with manufacturers Lobmeyer in Austria and Magis in Italy. Alongside this he has continued his collaboration with Studio Mumbai on an architectural installation at the V&A, London as well as starting to re-design the menswear floor at La Rinascente in Milan due to be re-launched in 2011.
