The name "Corail", train in use in 1975, resulted from the contraction of the words "comfort" and "rail". It also recalled the vivid orange colour of the coaches standing out from the "green wagon" of the former generations of trains.
Inspired from ergonomic studies, these seats were made of a moulded body and a filling of foam from various thickness adapted to the pressure point of the body.
This historically important piece is the precursor of the coming generation of the French high speed train: the TGV, designed by Roger Tallon.
